Roxio is brand new in this area, as we know it has been present for years in the multimedia creation industry. Easy VHS to DVD is a small USB type device that allows its users to capture VHS tape videos and burn them directly to DVD discs. It does not include a VHS player, it is a device and an application that through RCA and S-Video connectors can transfer the video and audio to the computer.
It supports the most popular analog camcorders, VCRs and DVD players. It offers the option to automatically burn the captured videos just after finishing, with automatic chapters and other settings or the chance to burn them later so some edition can be done like: video quality enhancement, adding transitions and professional style menus and chapters.
Captured video can be output as VCD and SVCD also. A small editing tool allows to trim and cut video clips, fix colors and create DVD menus.
Additionally users can digitalize old LPs and cassettes. It includes an application to capture audio from cassette and LP players enabling to Auto adjust recording audio volume, trim gaps between tracks and burn to MP3, WAV, WMA, Dolby Digital AC-3, etc.
It has competitors with experience such as Pinnacle, but Easy VHS to DVD has a simpler interface, and more options which places it in a better spot. Also it is available for Mac which is great because there aren't many programs for Mac to capture VHS video. Mac version does not include the video editing tool but includes Roxio Toast to burn the captured videos.
It doesn't require too much to run, at least 512Mb in RAM, 2GB of free disk space and WIn XP/Vista.
